Description

In 1989, Cito Gaston began his first, and only stint as a Major League manager for the Toronto Blue Jays. That year he turned around a sub-.500 team to win the 1989 AL East Championship. He would repeat this feat in 1991, 1992, and 1993, with the Blue Jays winning the '92 and '93 World Series.

He also has the honor of being one of only two black managers to lead their team to the World Series (the other being Dusty Baker) and he is the only one to ever win a World Series. His Blue Jays were also the first back to back World Series Champions since the '77-'78 New York Yankees. Only the '98-'99-2000 Yankees have won concurrent championships since.

I feel that Cito should be in Cooperstown as the great manager he was, and this stamp is too show support for it.

I know about the whole love affair with Cito in Toronto...and i'm too young to know what he was like in the Jays heyday but....He's a pretty awful manager. And I won't go into Jose Bautista's career year because i have no idea if thats Murphy or Cito or even Butterfield, because i don't know for a fact who was responsible for that. All i know is that Cito cost guys like Travis Snider a year of development, Adam Lind a year of experience at first, and a ton of young pitchers opportunities (Jeremy Accardo a starter, really?????) So i respectfully disagree about his Hall of Fame worthiness.
